And In Love And Happiness...

Hey guys!!
Hope you're all well!!
It's June!!
AHHHHHHH!!
O M G!!
I'll stop…
I can't believe we're already halfway through the year!!
But also - IT'S SUMMER!!
WOO!!
Yes it's the most wonderful time of the year (well Eurovison is but we won't get in to that).
It's that time of year where the world falls in love - or becomes a hermit to hide from the heat.
Summer is a wonderful time of the year, as I can now leave the house in a cardigan/light jacket and not freeze to death. I also love the fact that you don't have to worry about hiding your outfit under a coat (and an ugly one at that). Another fashion related summer love is sandals. OMG I LOVE sandals!! I love the minimal effort and yet they can still make a huge statement. At the moment I am loving my Birkenknots (knock offs) from Next and I literally wear them all the time. Summer means it's time to break out the bright neon colours, massive florals, perspex everything and the ever so chic all white. You might not see me rocking these trends; but I love those individuals who have the guts to try. There is one trend this season that I have been loving and that's hawaiian/tropical print. I have been hunting high and low for the perfect tropical print inspired shirt and I finally found it in the least likeliest place - the charity shop! There it was for £3, the perfect little shirt with a black base and pink tropical flowers on it. I was amazed that I found it in the most obscure place and for a steal!! It's definitely my new favourite item in my wardrobe and I'm now ready for the glorious summer ahead!!
I apologise for the amount of times I said love or loving or lovely in this post - I think it's the new word.
Now, in the words of The Corrs - IN THE HEAT OF SUMMER SUNSHINE!!

Promised To Never Do What I’ve Done...

 Hi everyone!!
Hope you're all well!!
Blooming hell these past few weeks have just been an absolute blur in the Allen household.
There were honestly times where I actually forgot what day of the week it is - I'm hoping today is Tuesday and I'm not going to get a phone call from my manager screaming at me to get to work!!
But in amongst all the blurriness, there has been some good times and some very very very EXTREMELY bad times. But as they say - where there's good, there's bad (well at least I say that). Unfortunately the blurriness has faded away and now I'm back to normal - BOO! In fact right now I'm sitting in the library at college procrastinating, as my assignments have well and truly confuzzled me and I refuse to do them (for now). So instead I'm doing a little post to say hi, I'm still here and of course - still fabulous.
Now you can forgive me for this apparent 'selfie' post; but trust me I'm not going to write about how amazing and talented I am because I could do that in two words - I'm not! Instead, consider this as me reaching out to you after a long absence. I know I've been away and I would love to explain why, but I just don't feel ready enough to. But now I'm back (well more than I was before), I thought I would talk to you about the wonderful world of Instagram. Now I know you're probably all saying 'we know what Instagram is' and that's true, in fairness I think even the polar bears in the arctic circle know what Instagram is. What I'm trying to point out is the fact that even though I may not be updating that often, you can always find me on Instagram (predominantly on Twitter - @Vintage_Spikes but I do go on about puppies, doughnuts and as of late - Eurovision). Sometimes it's just easier for me to post a picture of an outfit on Instagram then to break out my laptop and do it here. The same goes for actually taking the photo. As much as I love the quality of the photos I take using me camera, sometimes I don't have time to set up my tripod and camera and also it's easier just to use my phone. I do realise I sound like the worst blogger right now; but I'm not trying to make excuses or even to promote myself on other social networks. This is my way of saying, if you do like seeing my outfits on a fairly regular bases then hop over to my Instagram - @Vintage_Spikes and you're sure to be inundated with various outfits from different occasions (well mainly work and Bluewater).
Don't get me wrong I do miss posting on here, but like anyone else I am only human and therefore crap does happen to me like it happens to everyone else and sometimes you just need to take a step back. But if (by some chance - very small one at that) you do miss me, then remember you can catch me on all my various social networks on the top bar of my blog or you can even email me.
I do miss sharing with you all and I hope you like me sharing to.
Until next time!!

I Can Make It, I Know I Can...

'Tra la! It's May!
The lusty month of May!'
Apparently
Yes, May has arrived!!
We are officially 5 months in to the year!
April was a very trying month personally for me. I loved and lost and it really made me appreciate the people in my life. I don't think I could have made it through the last 30 days without them - so for that I'd like to say thank you to everyone who has supported me. Unfortunately because of these personal problems, blogging has taken a back seat but I thought I would do an old favourite to distract myself.
It doesn't matter who you are, where you come from or indeed where you're going - everyone needs a little bit of inspiration. Inspiration can ignite a fire within you that you may not have known existed. Inspiration can be passed from person to person in order to create a better world. I know I'm being unusually profound for a Tumblr post; but I suppose I'm showing that although these photos are fashion and beauty related, they can also inspire you in different areas of your life. For instance - perhaps dying your hair a bright colour may help with confidence, spending an afternoon in the park may be the distraction you've been looking for etc. Inspiration can come from anywhere and in this case, it might just come from the most unexpected place. I will admit these pictures are a little dull compared to previous ones (beauty shots not included); but we all know I always wear black - it's my favourite colour/shade.
So I think all thats left to say is - Can I go Disney now??

Yeah Tonight I'm Running Free...

Hey everyone!!
Hope you're all well!!
Long time no see!!
These past few weeks has just been so hectic for me and I haven't had time to breathe. It's also been a very difficult time personally and therefore blogging has taken a step back. Fortunately I'm now back!! YAYAY!! And ready to continue our fashion journey together.
Anyway…
IT'S APRIL!!
OMG!!
EASTER!!
WOO!!
Finally we can eat as much chocolate as we want and not feel guilty.
I think Easter is the only time of year where people want you to get fat (well maybe Christmas as well). Everyone buys you chocolate and I swear the Easter eggs get bigger and bigger every year! Another good thing about Easter is the holidays - WOO! Two weeks off from college (unfortunately not work), to just relax and regroup. Naturally I still have to do too many assignments; but I'm forcing myself to at least do an hour a day for each one (there's only 3 - well 4 but that one doesn't matter). Another good thing about Easter - SALES!! Unfortunately my shopping lent is still in full swing, so I will not be taking advantage of those bargain prices - I know it sucks! But if I'm honest, I don't miss shopping. SHOCK! HORROR! Yes ladies and gentlemen, I do not miss the thrill of buying new fabulous pieces. With the start of spring (well officially), I have decided to not only have a spring clean (I've kinda already done that) but to recycle my old items in my wardrobe. I've no doubt mentioned this before, but this time I mean customising those pieces lacking in va va voom. Why spend £20 on a top that is similar to something you already own but has fancy fringing, when you can DIY it yourself. Now I'm not exactly the most artistic person; but I know I would get more of a kick knowing I created something unique. Knowing me this new outlook will end in May when my lent ends (I'm doing it till May); but for now I'm going to go with the momentum.
Easter is the time to start a new and I don't see why we shouldn't!!
Now someone pass me the chocolate!!
