Hey everyone!!
It's Monday!!
Usually on this day I sleep in till 1pm and do sod all.
Not today!!
Nope I had another early morning and now I'm soooooooooooooo tired.
You know I said I was dead yesterday??
Double that!!
Ney
Triple it!!
I have to literally hold my eyelids open in order to stay awake!!
Ok so I'm exaggerating but I am pretty tired.
Anyway...
This was me earlier today after my first day at my new job.
Remember a while a go when I mentioned going for an interview??
Well...
I got the job!!
I know I'm just as surprised as you are. I must admit at one point I honestly didn't know whether I would get it or not, after about a week or so I thought I definitely didn't get it. A couple of days later I received a phone call telling me I got the job!! I think I was in shock more then anything because I didn't think I would get it. At first I didn't realise who it was on the phone until I twigged. I am now the new sales advisor for the Oasis concession in my local Debenhams!! Obviously when I got the phone call I was suffering with my viral/cold thingy, so it would be a while before I would start. I waited for over a week and I started to feel about nervous, so I thought I would go and hunt down the Oasis manager. I popped in last Monday and finally I felt a sense of relief. I was to start next Monday (today) at 10am until 2pm!! Finally I knew what I was doing so I went away and enjoyed my week. I wasn't at all nervous yesterday as it's the same environment that I've been used to for 6 months. Monday morning comes around and although I get out of bed 5 minutes later then usual, I was ready on time and out the door. Thankfully my Dad was off so he was able to drop me off; but there was soooooooooooooo much frigging traffic that I got to work with 5 minutes to spare. While I was putting my stuff in the locker I heard the announcement, 'The time is now 10 o'clock the store is now open'. I swore and then ran down to the ground floor as quickly as I could. Unfortunately Amy my supervisor was running late so I had absolutely no idea what to do. My morning did start off bad, as my manager came up to me and had a go because I applied for the Oasis job without telling her. I get her point but the way she attacked me and did it in front of everyone isn't on. AHHHHH!! Anyway Amy arrived and she was really nice and friendly and not at all what I was expecting. We went down to the office and did some paperwork which is always the boring part. We weren’t there too long as the Warehouse supervisor had to use it (it's literally a cubby hole). Back on the shop floor we got to know each other and basically served customers, size ordered, tidied up etc. Later we finished off the paperwork and started to move some of the fixtures around. Before I knew it, it was 2pm and time to go home. With Oasis (as well as other concessions) you get a uniform allowance, which you use to purchase clothes to wear on the job. At Red Herring we don't have that (that's why I wear Topshop and Primark); so this whole uniform thing had to be explained several times to me. I picked up the Swan Print Ruffle Blouse and the Dark Wash Jessie Jegging. Obviously not usually my style but I have to learn to dress girly for work. So now I have two jobs in the same store but opposite each other...confusing!!
To the outfit...
I know this looks highly familiar (yes it looks like the one I wore to the interview); but I wanted to wear Oasis and this is the only 'non evening' item I own. This skirt is so hard to put with items of clothing; but I think the harder part for me is the cardigan. I usually wear my black one if I can't think of anything else to wear; but I thought that would just look weird with this skirt. Because of that I needed to find a top that matched this cardigan. I thought about a plain tank top; but the white would look...well to white and the black wouldn't go either. And then at one point my brain clicked and I thought of this H&M top. It had worked so well when I layered it in a previous outfit, so there is no reason for it not to work now. I think the green leaves within the pattern helps connect it to the khaki well. The tops base colour is an off white but not quite cream, which makes matching it with this skirt perfect. Overall this outfit came out better then I could have hoped. With a pair of flats (they're so slippy) and some gold chains for a more me look. Always need to layer on the jewels.
God what a busy weekend I've had!!
I'm hopefully out tomorrow and then I'm trying to figure out what day to have home. Ideally I would like all week but unfortunately that's not going to happen.
Hermit time??
Not yet!!
B x
